OPPORTUNITIES TO JOIN F.L.A.G. CLUB
Join our team of instructors
We are in search of martial arts instructors. Whether you're a black belt or brand new to martial arts, we’ll train you. Experience is a plus but not required.

Levels of Certification:
-
Workshop Assistant: will be qualified to assist the Instructor and Assistant Instructor in running the workshop. They must have taken the course they wish to assist with, have attended the "Assistant training course" and have 5 hours of training under a certified Instructor. Voluntary position.

-
Assistant Instructor: will be qualified to teach alongside a certified Instructor and run a workshop in the event that the Instructor is absent. They must be qualified to be an assistant trainer for all of the FLAG courses, have 80 hours of training and supervised practice with a certified Instructor, and have taken the "FLAG method course". Paid position.

-
Instructor: will be certified to run the FLAG workshop with their own team. They must be qualified to be an assistant instructor and have 36 hours assisting in that role. They must have an additional 80 hours of practice with a certified Instructor, and pass the "Instructor’s test" administered by the FLAG Martial Arts Expert board member. Paid position.

-
“Punchee”: a big part of FLAG workshops involves throwing someone to the ground. The person being thrown (henceforth known as the Punchee) has to know not only how to safely take a fall but also how to offer just enough resistance to allow the student to properly learn the technique without making it unrealistically easy. This takes extra time to learn, including a complete familiarity with the technique, and specialized fall training. Therefore all Punchees need to complete the FLAG Punchee training and have 100 hours of practice with a certified Instructor. Paid position.

A certified trainer of the FLAG method will be required to:
-
For Workshop Assistant; be 18 years or older.
-
For Assistant Instructor and Instructor; be 21 years or older.
-
Receive and complete training by a certified FLAG trainer as described above under Levels of Certification.
-
Understand that physical contact and touch is required by teachers and be able to tell the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touching.
-
Role play and demonstrate proficiency.
-
Invest a minimum number of hours into continued training each year: Workshop Assistant=24, Assistant Instructor=48, Instructor=94.
-
Complete a trauma-informed care workshop.
-
Volunteer for FLAG for at least 4 hours per year.
